Faith Under The Microscope: A chat with my friends at Pet Hamper

I was first drawn to Pet Hamper because of their wonderful environmentally conscious approach to creating a gift that is clearly full of love and thought for our cats and dogs. Now they are a firm favourite when I'm picking prizes for my various social media competitions, so I was delighted when they agreed to have a chat with me...

How did your company come to be? What was the inspiration behind Pet Hamper?

Pet Hamper was inspired by my need to find the perfect gift for a client who had everything, including their Red Setter Rufus. I put together a small hamper of all their favourite things, and I included a luxury dog blanket and some treats for Rufus. This got me thinking! Wouldn’t it be great if you could personalise a hamper around pets, and with that, Pet Hamper was born with a focus on all things luxury and personalised.

When did you prioritise becoming environmentally conscious? Has this always been a high priority for you?

Being based on a rural site nestled in the Fylde countryside, the environment has always been something at the forefront of our minds. The Environmentally Conscious range was inspired by Emily’s love of all things natural. From a few individual products, Emily researched the market to find the very best products to form the collection you see today.

When would you say is the best occasion to treat your pet to a pet hamper?

When is there not a reason to treat our pets! Our most popular time of year though is of course Christmas, when customers don’t like their pets to feel left out and look to treat them just like they do with gifts for the rest of the family.

Your hampers seem like they’re great for dogs and cats of all ages- which hampers are best for puppies and kittens?

Our puppy hampers are one of our best sellers. So much so that we have a dedicated category for these on our website with thirteen puppy hampers now to choose from along with the “build your own option”.

On special occasions such as Christmas and Easter, people often forget about their pets- would you recommend showing your pet you appreciate them?

Our pets are part of the family, so we feel they should defiantly be treated on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter. It’s also good to provide them with their own Christmas Cake and Easter Egg to keep them away from the real thing, which as we all know can be very dangerous for them If consumed.

Would you ever consider doing hampers for other types of pets?

We are looking at creating a couple of “small animal” hampers which have been requested, however our focus will always primarily be on dogs and cats and building on our existing product range.

Have you had any special orders that come to mind? What were they?

We’ve had a number of orders from celebrities and large household corporations which spring to mind, but of course we can’t mention any names!

How does your ‘create your own hamper’ option work?

Our aim was always to keep this as simple as possible;

  • Choose your gift packaging (luxury gift bag or linen sack)
  • Choose all your favourite products
  • Add your gift message
  • Checkout

It’s as simple as that.

How is the journey chronicled on the puppy diaries going? Any puppy updates?

Barney is 7-months old now and you can follow his journey on Instagram @pethamperbarney. The next update on the blog will be on puppy food and how we’ve managed his weight and balanced diet as he grows.

Which hamper would you say is your best seller?

Our current bestseller is the Knottie Puppy Hamper. This hamper can be customised by colour, and we feel is the perfect price point for a puppy hamper.
